Liverpool saw their chances for the Premier League title go down the drain as they draw with Crystal Palace.
Having led the game 3-0 after 79 minutes, it came as a shock that Crystal Palace could rally themselves up to a draw in full time. Liverpool's hopes and dreams are now in tatters with their bid to win the Premiere League resting on Manchester City losing points, which looks like an impossibility with the way Manchester City is playing.
Leading league a month ago, Brendan Rodger's boys are showing signs of fatigue and restlessness that is usually the bane of every club hoping to win the Premiere League.
As evidenced by Brendan Rodger's post match commentary, he claims that the team is devastated having lost the title from their grasp after a Cinderella story-like campaign. Even Luis Suarez couldn't be consoled at full time with Crystal Palace and it looks like he's set to leave for Real Madrid come the summer transfer break.
Losing the title is hard on any team but losing it after leading with a 5-point margin is even more devastating. Liverpool just doesn't have what it takes to be crowned Champions. The only consolation is that they will finish above Chelsea, who's had Striker problems, along with the European schedule, and Manchester United (who are undergoing change after Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down as manager and replacement David Moyes leading the team to a dismal 7th place).
It can be debated that Liverpool was lucky that Manchester United were undergoing transition and if United were the same powerful force that they were last season, the Pool would still be a mid-table club. They simply just don't have the endurance and class it takes to win the League, having lost to Chelsea and now drawing with Crystal palace.
This scenario is not unfamiliar as Liverpool almost won the league last 2007 with Rafa Benitez going toe to toe on points with Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United before the Christmas break only to be left wanting come the end of the season. Liverpool will never walk alone but in their hands the Premiere League title is not, again.
