Woody Allen movies have often been the vehicle for some of the most talented actresses to give their best performances of their career, such as was the case with Cate Blanchett,Scarlett Johansson, and Diane Keaton over the years. The prolific director's last film to hit theaters, Blue Jasmine, earned an Oscar and a Golden Globe for actress Cate Blanchett and took in $97.5 million at the box office. Emma Stone may have a similar opportunity, as she has recently been cast in Woody Allen's next film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No plot details have yet been leaked about the project, but it was revealed last week that Joaquin Phoenix has also signed on to star in the film.
This is actually the second Woody Allen movie that Stone will be in. Her first was "Magic in the Moonlight," which is currently is post-production with a release date of July 25 (same day as the Cameron Diaz Jason Segal comedy film "Sex Tape). The film also stars Colin Firth, Hamish Linklater, Marcia Gay Harden, Jacki Weaver, Erica Leerhsen, Eileen Atkins, Simon McBurney, Antonia Clarke and Jeremy Shamos. The film is set in the 1920s on the French Riviera and is romantic comedy about an Englishman who is brought in to help unmask a possible swindle. Expectedly, personal and professional complications ensue.
Emma Stone drew criticism lately for her thin frame. In an interview with Seventeen, the actress explained her slim frame. "It can be really challenging in today's world for anyone - especially girls and women -to feel good about their bodies," Stone said. "No matter how things look from the outside, we can all be super critical of ourselves and of our image in the mirror." Stone continued, "I've seen articles or comments that have addressed my weight of 'caving to pressure to be thin. Keeping weight on is a struggle for me - especially when I'm under stress, and especially as I've gotten older."
