Edge Of Tomorrow

Emily Blunt is in a new movie called “Edge of Tomorrow” in which she whips Tom Cruise into shape! In the newly released posters for the action film, she is wearing high-tech armor and wields a gigantic sword. In the movie, which was previously titled All You Need is Kill, Blunt is actually the unstoppable badass and Cruise is the newbie soldier she needs to train. The film is based on the Japanese novel All You Need Is Kill written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and illustrated by Yoshitoshi Abe. The movie follows Cruise as Lt. Col. Bill Cage, a desk-jockey PR officer (a character called Keiji Kiriya in the book) who is dropped into combat against the alien telepaths known as Mimics. He's killed almost immediately, but somehow respawns back at the beginning of his mission. Cage relives his own death again and again like some kind of warped Groundhog’s Day. However, Cage is able to make more progress each time, and he may actually end up holding the key to humanity's victory over the aliens that have made it their mission to destroy Earth. Rita Vrataski (Blunt), a special forces hero also known as "Full Metal Bitch" teams up with Cage to train him one death at a time. As Cage and Rita train and fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them closer and closer to victory. The movie also stars Bill Paxton, Jeremy Piven, Ciaran Hinds, Noah Taylor, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong, Franz Drameh, Masayoshi Haneda and Tony Way.

The movie is directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Jumper) also recently signed up to direct Tom Hardy in the Splinter Cell movie. The screenplay includes contributions from Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote the script for the Usual Suspects screenwriter. Edge of Tomorrow opens in 2D and 3D on June 6th.
