"Fifty Shades of Grey" cast lead Dakota Johnson is rumored to be dating Benedict Cumberbatch. The pair was spotted a day after the new Anastasia Steele impressed fashion critics at the red carpet event at Met gala on May 5.

In a series of snaps published on MailOnline, Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series, was spotted having lunch with the "Fifty Shades of Grey" cast member Dakota Johnson along with a female friend at NYC restaurant.

Benedict Cumberbatch seemed to be pulling all stops in order to impress his date, as he even placed napkins on his face before putting on sunglasses, which reduced the ladies in stitches. The "Star Wars" actor also couldn't contain his laughter over his antics.

Earlier that day, "Fifty Shades of Grey" cast star Dakota Johnson took a stroll with Benedict Cumberbatch on the streets of New York. The model and daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith wore a floral dress and loafers as well as a pair of sunglasses.

Dakota Johnson, who will play the submissive Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of E.L. James' erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey," also impressed during the New York's MET gala as she wore a dark blue gown, created by Jason Wu, and long, formal gloves, LatinPost reported.

The 24-year-old let her hair down and also did not wear any jewelry in order to draw further attention to her stunning gown.

Another "Fifty Shades of Grey" cast member, Rita Ora, also attended the MET and impressed fashionistas by wearing a strapless sequined gold gown, accentuated by an extravagant trail, Latin Post added.

According to Us Weekly, Rita Ora's stylist Jason Rembert and his assistant kept the dress from the actress, who plays Christian Grey's sister Mia in "Fifty Shades of Grey," until the last minute. When she was finally shown the dress, the singer-songwriter was reportedly "over the moon."
