Based on recent Doctor Who toys news, toy collectors of the popular British show are refusing the 3.75-inch Character Options.

Doctor Who toy collectors expect a lot from their favoured toy manufacturers and with the shift to Character Options' 3.75 inch figures from the much loved 5-inch figures, internet forums as well as blogs, have been clamouring to revert back to the 5-inch line.

There is even a Facebook page dedicated to this!

One reason is because of its smaller scale, attention to detail has been sacrificed. A comparison between the 5 inch 11th Doctor figure to the 3.75 11th Doctor figure, one can immediately notice the lack of detail on the 3.75 inch figure.

What annoys Whovian collectors is that the scale will stay the same when toys from the second part of series 7 episodes onwards. Although the classic line until the 11th Doctor pre-series 7 will still retain the 5-inch scale, collectors have been anticipating seeing a figure of the 11th Doctor wearing his purple coat.

Moreover, according to the latest Doctor Who Toys news, The TARDIS has also been given the 3.75 shift, and although it features the new interior and because of its small size, some features have been omitted. Playsets have also been introduced with the Dalek Invasion and Cold war Playsets as shown in DoctorWhoToys.net website. Collectors absolutely hated these playsets! One reason of course is that besides the plastic base, the whole playset is made out of cardboard. Who would pay around $20 for a piece of cardboard?

One thing to realize is that paying a hefty price is no problem to collectors as long as detail and playability is of the highest degree. Toy manufacturers seem to think that just because it is Doctor Who and the figure somehow resembles the Doctor, anyone would be willing to shell a huge amount of money just to buy it.

Character Options have defended their shift in size by claiming that everyone can now easily own one. Parent will not have any problem spending around $12 for a single figure. The fact that detail has been sacrificed and collectors feel that Character Options is just banking on the Doctor Who popularity is reason enough not to purchase the new Doctor Who figures.

Time will tell if anyone can resist not getting an action figure of Peter Capaldi in his 8th Doctor outfit or even the new TARDIS.
