New Flintstones Movie To Be Launched By Warner Bros: Kids from the ‘60's and Stone Age (Bedrock) fanatics may rejoice as a new Flintstones movie is on the works, according to Mashable. The announcement was made by Warner Bros on 7th May. The new Flintstones movie is spearheaded by Andrew Fischel and Cate Adams. Chris Henchy, writer of The Campaign (starring Will Ferrell and Zack Galifianakis) is partnering with Gary Sanchez Productions (Will Ferrell and Adam McKay) to pen the script for the soon to be revived Flintstones animated feature. Ferrell and McKay are hired to produce the new Flintstones movie. The new Flintstones movie is bound to make waves in today's movie scene, simply because it stills holds its own in pop culture.
In 1994, acclaimed producer Steven Spielberg produced a live action Flintstones movie that starred big celebrities (such as John Goodman, Rick Moranis, Rosie O'Donnell and Elizabeth Taylor) based on the cartoon (set in the Stone Age that aired from 1960 to 1966, and was thereafter syndicated). Despite the fact that the film was not a hit with movie critics as it only received a 22% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, U.S. viewers bought into it, earning the film over $130 million in the local box office. Spielberg's Flintstones is known for having 32 writers pen the script.
Family Guy's creator, Seth Macfarlane previously tried to push an updated television remake, but plans did not push through and the 2013 project was put on hold because the pilot script did not impress. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Well-placed sources say the studio and network brass who read the script in early April were not thrilled, with Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly telling the creator of the Fox animated hits American Dad! and The Cleveland Show that he ‘likes it but doesn't love it.'"
