"Godzilla" 2014 will have all-new monsters! The cast was at the premiere in Hollywood last night May 8.
Godzilla director Gareth Edwards has said his upcoming Godzilla movie will feature all-new monsters. However, Godzilla screenwriter Max Borenstein said that the film will feature an Easter Egg reference to the classic monster.
Speaking to comedian Jason Horton and pop culture expert Erin Darling, Borenstein also explained the origins of Godzilla's name. In Japanese, Gojira, is the amalgamation of two Japanese words, gorira (gorilla) and kujira (whale). Horton suggested in the interview that being called a "gorilla-whale" could have hurt Godzilla's feelings, and Borenstein jokes that it could be the reason why Godzilla "is so angry."
The Godzilla (2014) cast includes stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, and David Strathairn. The cast attended the premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Thursday May 8.
Godzilla star Elizabeth Olsen recently spoke with ABC News about her fiance Boyd Holbrook.
"I probably didn't have a mother instinct until recently to tell you the truth. I wasn't the kid growing up who loved babies. I think only recently I've found something really beautiful and brave and modern to be a mother," Olsen said. "I don't know, working with a 4-year-old on a film you start to realize how much energy children do require and it's something that you really want to think about when you're ready to do it," she said. "In this point in my life, that's something I'm not ready to do, that's for sure."
The description of the film is as follows:
"In Summer 2014, the world's most revered monster is reborn as Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures unleash the epic action adventure ‘Godzilla.' From visionary new director Gareth Edwards ("Monsters") comes a powerful story of human courage and reconciliation in the face of titanic forces of nature, when the awe-inspiring Godzilla rises to restore balance as humanity stands defenseless."
The Godzilla movie will be hitting theaters everywhere on May 16!
