Michael Fassbender gives "Prometheus 2" the green light, to the delight of "Alien" fans. Fassbender, who plays David in the first film, leaked the information in an "X-Men: Days of Future Past" interview with James McAvoy (independent.co.uk).
The Prometheus movie sequel is in serious consideration, which is as far as Fassbender will confirm. The actor is keen on reprising his role as the sympathetic android, but is still clueless as to the timeline of the film's development.
Prometheus 2 movie is reportedly slated for a March 2016 release, but an official date is yet to be announced. Hints of the plot were revealed earlier, involving multiple "Davids," either as duplicates or as the same android from different timelines. Michael Green ("Green Lantern") takes over Jack Pagen's screenplay draft.
Ridley Scott's participation in the movie is on standby; the director is currently working on a Moses film ("Exodus"). James Cameron, who was rumored as considered for the first film, is distancing himself from the possibility of directing the sequel: "I thought it was thought-provoking and beautifully, visually mounted, but at the end of the day it didn't add up logically."
Although the first film ended with hints to a follow up, Scott was non-committal. Damon Lindelof (of "Lost" TV Series) has officially stepped out of the creative process, and Scott's pending projects put the possibility of a sequel on a standstill.
Noomi Rapace did confirm earlier that the script is in development. "They're working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It's just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will."
Prometheus 2 movie is expected to follow on the hills of the first film, which received mixed reviews from fans and critics. Production is reported to begin in Fall 2015, to be confirmed.
