Lea Michele Cory Monteith engaged was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives but sadly all Michele has now are memories. The Glee star posted a moving tribute to Cory Monteith Sunday on Twitter, on the day that he would have turned 32.
Michele shared a black and white photo of the two laughing together along with a heartfelt caption.
"The biggest heart and most beautiful smile.. In all of our hearts.. We love you so. Happy Birthday," Michele wrote about her late boyfriend who died last July at age 31.
The actress is still filled with love for Monteith and made sure her 4.3 million Twitter followers remembered him on his birthday, May 11.
Monteith was tragically found dead in a Vancouver hotel room. His death came just months after he voluntarily checked himself into rehab for substance abuse.
In October of 2013, a coroner's report revealed that Monteith "died of mixed drug toxicity, involving intravenous heroin use combined with the ingestion of alcohol."
That same month, Glee paid tribute to the actor and his character in an episode titled "The Quarterback."
Michele, 27, was especially heartbroken. The two dated on-and off-screen, and she has called him her "true love."
"He was not his addiction - unfortunately, it won. But that wasn't who he was," she told Seventeen's April issue. "Cory made me feel like a queen every day. From the minute he said 'I'm your boyfriend,' I loved every day, and I thank him for being the best boyfriend and making me feel so beautiful."
Monteith's mom, Ann McGregor, also Tweeted a sweet message in memory of her son. "Maybe it is a blessing that Cory's birthday is on Mother's Day," she wrote Friday.
