The Diaz brothers' MMA career with the UFC may be in jeopardy, as Dana White released his latest statements regarding both Nick and Nate's contracts with the organization.
Both the Diaz brothers are on a self-imposed hiatus as of the moment. Nick announced his "retirement" from competition after his UFC 158 loss against former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in March 2013.
On the other hand, the other Diaz brother in MMA, Nate, has been on a contract dispute with the UFC after he demanded to be released from the company due to salary issues. His last fight was against Gray Maynard at The Ultimate Fighter finale 18 in November 2013.
UFC president Dana White has been patient with the latest controversy involving the Diaz brothers in MMA, but this time, he has taken a more indifferent approach.
"It's not frustrating for me at all," Dana White said in an interview with MMA Fighting. "If the Diaz brothers don't ever want to fight again, that's up to them."
"The thing is that's sad about it, fighting or any other sport, it isn't a profession. It's not a job. It's an opportunity," he continued.
The Diaz brothers have been the bad boys of MMA since the beginning of their careers making them instant crowd draws, whether from fans or haters. But no matter how big a draw a fighter may be, his/her career will be put in jeopardy once inactivity becomes a factor.
For Dana White, the UFC will continue to move, with or without the Diaz brothers in MMA.
"Whether you're talking about baseball, basketball, football, mixed martial arts, boxing, the world moves on," White explained. 'If tonight is my last night and I walk out off this stage and I'm done, the UFC isn't going anywhere."
"The UFC is gonna keep rolling without me. And the same with the Diaz brothers," he said.
