The sequel to the Alien prequel, Prometheus 2, will have a minor setback along the way as the release date for the movie has been delayed due to Ridley Scott's other film priorities and "Days of Future Past" star Michael Fassbender confirms his return as David in the sequel.
Ridley Scott confirmed months ago that the script to Prometheus 2 was in the bag. Filming is set to start production this fall, with a confirmed release date on March 2016. But due to earlier commitments from other projects it seems likely that the film will delayed for a while as Ridley Scott has been working on Exodus: Gods and Kings which is set to be release this year.
According to reports from TheWrap, Prometheus 2 release date might not be the only thing changed as the title might get some alterations being branded now as the "Untitled Ridley Scott Project". Film shooting is reportedly going to begin this fall right after the director would have delivered the "Exodus" movie to 20th Century Fox.
Meanwhile, one of Prometheus original cast members, Michael Fassbender, confirms his return to the sequel reprising his role as the android David. During an interview with the Collider, Fassbender answered with a confident "yes" but admitted he didn't know when Prometheus 2 will happen.
"For sure. I love Ridley, he's a master filmmaker."
It was reported before that Fassbender left the biopic film "Genius" for personal reasons. Perhaps he wanted to do Prometheus 2 as the sequel is hints feature multiple "David" androids and will likely see one Michael Fassbender in movie.
James Cameron who directed "Aliens" panned the original movie "Prometheus" and is distancing himself for "Prometheus 2" should the writing job be offered to him by the studio.
"I thought it was an interesting film. I thought it was thought provoking and beautifully, visually mounted, but at the end of the day it didn't add up logically."
