Donald Sterling's interview with Anderson Cooper was supposed to be an apology. Instead, the LA Clippers owner found himself in hot water again after making comments about Magic Johnson. Meanwhile, Donald Sterling's estranged wife, Shelly Sterling spoke about her husband's actions and says she thinks the 81-year-old is suffering from dementia.

Donald Sterling's interview with Anderson Cooper on Monday night quickly turned into a verbal attack on Magic Johnson. The CNN interview was intended to be an apology, but Donald Sterling instead slammed Magic Johnson saying that the former NBA star should not be a role model because 'he has AIDS.'

Johnson responded on Tuesday to Donald Sterling's attacks on him, saying that the Clippers owner's statements "very disturbing," according to the Los Angeles Times.

"We've got to pray for the man," Johnson told TMZ.com. "I think we need to get him some help."

Johnson added, "I am a proud black man. I am one of the leaders in the black community."

Donald Sterling's estranged wife Shelly Sterling spoke with Savannah Guthrie on Today to discuss Sterling's interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN.

"He's not the man I know, or I knew,'' she said to Today. "There's something wrong. I really think, personally, he has dementia."

Sterling commented, "I don't think it happened overnight. I think it's been happening, but nobody really knew the reason. I mean, he gets crazy, and yells, and screams, and hollers one moment. The next moment he'll ... talk about something else. I mean it's like nothing makes sense."

Sterling's wife Shelly Sterling also spoke with ABC's Barbara Walters, saying she may eventually divorce Donald Sterling and will fight efforts to force her to sell her share of the Clippers.

"I was shocked by what he said," Shelly Sterling told Walters. "But I don't know why I should be punished for what his actions were."

NBA commissioner Adam Silver issued a public apology to Magic Johnson for Sterling's recent comments on CNN.
