The latest in George Clooney news: the actor Oscar Award-winning actor is no longer the most eligible bachelor in town. Clooney makes his engagement with new fiancée sort of public by throwing a small group party Sunday evening.
George Clooney and partner Amal Alamuddin decided to tie the knot after seven months of intense relationship. The couple hosted a small party of A-listers at Café Habana in Malibu, California.
The place was packed with people for the Sunday, also because the evening was the peak of Mother's Day. Families were in for an unexpectedly pleasant treat. A local patron said "People got a show they didn't expect and other [customers] said it was the best Mother's Day ever."
To say the party was star-studded is an understatement. Business was brisk at Café Habana that evening, and the engagement party was in full swing as early as 7 P.M. George Clooney's group used the back patio of the restaurant. Private security ensured safety and crowd control.
Bono was one of the more notable guests, who even accommodated a song at karaoke time. Cindy Crawford was also in attendance with husband Rande Gerber, the owner of Café Habana. She also performed a karaoke song with her daughter.
The group was in high spirits, and there was plenty of public displays of affection. People hugged, kissed and congratulated the couple; the ring on Alamuddin's finger was prominently displayed and shown to everyone in attendance.
The engaged couple was toasted with shots of tequila, and Clooney looked joyful and relaxed. One source said the couple looked definitely in love with each other (eonline.com).
Alamuddin is a British-Lebanese lawyer by profession, also an activist and author. Her engagement is the most recent in George Clooney news. Clooney was previously married to American television and film actress Talia Balsam, from 1989 to 1993. The newly engaged couple has yet to decide (or reveal) the date of their wedding.
