Flame Of Recca 2014: It has been 16 years since the Flame Of Recca anime has ended. The anime, although a hit way back its time, was not finished mainly because the manga was still ongoing. It was forced to end in the Ura Butou Satsujin Arc where the protagonist, Recca, along with his team, faced their final challenge in Kurei, his half-brother, in a death match where Recca’s team ultimately won.
Sources close to author Nobuyuki Anzai allegedly revealed that the mangaka is planning to give Flame of Recca another shot, not in continuing the manga but in helming the continuation of the anime hand-in-hand with Viz Media. This may be plausible since Anzai is still active in launching new mangas. Last October 22, 2013, He released his new work titled ‘Nobuyuki Anzai's Meta Diary’ according to animenewsnetwork.com.
Not to mention, the anime is still quite popular in some other countries in Asia, particularly in the Philippines were the series was dubbed in their native language and has been on and off the air almost every two years for re-run.
So to say, Viz Media is still keeping in touch with Nobuyuki Anzai, the same company that produced his earlier works Flame Of Recca and MAR series. It would be interesting how the anime would look like in today’s world. The story arcs that have yet to be covered are Sealed Land and SODOM Arc. Also, Flame of Recca had a game adaptation in the PS2 titled ‘Final Burning’, wherein most of the character images were altered. See the video below!
