Samsung Galaxy S6 release date is already in the rumor mill slated for a launch in 2015 just a couple of months after the Samsung Galaxy S5 was released at the MWC 2014 in Barcelona on February 28.
Ledwn, a Korean publication, said that the country will house factories for the manufacture of flexible displays for the next generation smartphones, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6. Flexible displays are still not out in the market but local news reports suggest that Samsung will be using them for the next batch of releases.
According to IBT, Samsung introduced the Youm flexible display technology during the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show and showcased the new display at the 2014 CES a flexible display prototype. This prototype was made with a plastic substrate, and appeared to work well with AMOLED displays. It was not indicated whether the prototype was made with Youm technology.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has had a good start in terms of sales, and is a strong rival for the upcoming Apple iPhone 6, is expected to arrive by August 2014. Reports say that the Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to be a serious upgrade from its predecessor. It should come with a 2K display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset. Some Samsung watchers would like to see a flexible screen like the TV screens recently outed at trade shows like the CES in Las Vegas, but this spike up the price.
'If Apple has sapphire glass, Samsung has grapehe. Samsung will now reportedly offer a sure proof way for people to protect their phones even when they drop it. According to recent information, the Korean tech giant has been working on a graphene technology that will push smartphone durability and flexibility to the next level,' says Kristin Dian Mariano of IBT.
Despite a change in prices at a later stage, the Samsung S6 will hit a similar price tag as the Galaxy S5, between $600 and $700.
As far as the release date is concerned, the next MWC will be held from March 2 and 5 and Trusted Review believes the Galaxy S6 release date would be positively confirmed by Korean phone maker's dedicated press conference on Sunday 1 March, 2015 or Monday 2 March.
