Bob Arum's take on Manny Pacquiao's fight is quite positive as he relayed extreme satisfaction towards his top ward's performance during his rematch against Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley. Meanwhile, a fifth match between the Filipino champ and Juan Manuel Marquez becomes a possibility after "El Dinamita's" recent win.
In the Pacquia vs Bradley fight, "Pacman" walked away with a more dominant unanimous decision victory.
"People look at the Cotto and Hatton fights and see Manny as this devastating knockout puncher, which he never was," Arum said to Ring TV. "Look at the fight against De La Hoya, where he threw punches in and out and more punches. That was the Manny Pacquiao that fought Bradley in their rematch."
The three fights that Bob Arum mentioned were the last fights that Manny Pacquiao ended via stoppage. The latest one was against Miguel Cotto in 2009, with Pacquiao taking a 12th round TKO victory.
Manny Pacquiao's bout against Oscar De La Hoya in 2008 was the fight that served as the launch pad to his status as the global icon that he is now: an eight-division world champion and former pound-for-pound king. This is also the fight that Bob Arum likened the Bradley rematch to.
"The Pacquiao that fought De La Hoya, that's Manny's big style. [Pacquiao] punches hard, he moves and he is very hard to hit when he wants to be hard to hit. That was a magnificent performance by Manny Pacquiao."
Manny Pacquiao is currently looking at the possibility of having a match against long-time rival Juan Manuel Marquez after "El Dinamita" won over the weekend against Mike Alvarado.
Should the match push through, it should be the fifth encounter between "Pacman" and "El Dinamita."
While it could be said that this is part of Bob Arum's grand master plan, Juan Manuel Marquez himself is not too keen about the fight.
"I don't know at the moment (about fighting Pacquiao again). Any decision I make will be the best for me, my family, and the fans," Marquez told HBO’s Max Kellerman.
