"The Flash" extended trailer was released and the verdict was mostly positive as the "Arrow" spinoff will move forward as a series after it was picked up by CW.
According to Dean of Geeks blog site, the 5-minute "The Flash" extended trailer "is so loaded with nods to the DC Universe that it will make your head spin."
First there was the appearance of a man inside a lightning that the young Barry Allen sees before his mother is killed. Of course, nobody believes him and his father, Dr. Henry Allen, is taken away as suspect. The "man inside a lighting" is believed to be "Professor Zoom," a reverse-Flash who will become The Flash's archenemy.
"The Flash" extended trailer also revealed how Barry Allen got his superpowers when the STAR Labs particle accelerator explodes. But it also leads to other unintended consequences as Clyde Mardon, the villain who can control the weather, might have gained his superpowers from the same accident.
Speaking of weather, The Flash trying to quell a tornado by running the other way and creating a vacuum is a special nod to the comic books, Dean of Geeks said.
"The Flash" extended trailer also give a family album, although it's not very clear, with a familiar face. UK's Mirror suggested that based on the picture, John Wesley Shipp will play Barry Allen's father in the new series. Fans of the 1990s TV series will recognize the original Flash.
The official plot for "The Flash" revolves around Barry Allen, an assistant forensics investigator, who arrives in Starling to try to make sense of his past. He is obsessed with The Arrow, being a huge comic book fanboy.
"The Flash" stars Grant Gustin, Rick Cosnett, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanaugh, Carlos Valdez, John Wesley Shipp, Patrick Sabongui and Michelle Harrison.
