In Mel Gibson news: the actor-director's battery conviction has been expunged after completion of three-year probation. The court previously ruled in favor of Oksana Grigorieva's complaint that Gibson struck her on the mouth.
The actor enjoys a clean slate, and can claim that he has never been convicted of any violent crime. Gibson's probation involves 16 hours of community service and a full year of counseling.
The paperwork has been officially filed and approved to erase the conviction. Gibson offered a no-contest plea regarding the Grigorieva complaint (tmz.com).
In recent Mel Gibson news, the actor was charged with battery for slapping Grigorieva in the mouth, consequently taking out several of her veneers. The actor confessed to the offense in a sworn statement: "I slapped Oksana one time with an open hand in an attempt to bring her back to reality."
Gibson completed all the requirements, after the verdict and the no-contest plea in March 2011. The actor is still allowed civil and "peaceful" contact with the complainant.
The court documents have been approved pending a formal hearing. Gibson's probation period ended this March, and the hearing is scheduled later this month. As formality, the judge will allow a plea withdrawal from the defendant, and then the case will be dismissed.
In related Mel Gibson news, Oksana Grigorieva recently lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in violation of a confidentiality agreement. Oksana signed a written agreement which prohibits her from publicly discussing anything about the actor, particularly the case.
Grigorieva responded with quick comments in a Howard Stern interview, enough for the judge to forfeit the balance in her $750,000 settlement with Gibson. Reports say she's $375,000 short of completion.
Gibson's initial settlement offer tipped at $15 million, but the complainant refused. She has reportedly filed for bankruptcy after the judge's decision on the Howard Stern incident.
