"Community" cancellation might be inevitable but that doesn't mean fun will end, too. Cast Joel McHale launched two zingers at the show and also at himself for losing a job. Meanwhile, fans of the show turn to social media to push for a sixth season and a movie!

Joel McHale, who hosts "The Soup" on E!, opens his spiel on May 14 with "Welcome to 'Community' wait-wait, wait-wait, I mean welcome to 'The Soup,' that's still on, isn't it?"

Later in the show, he commented on being stars being overexposed: "I'm on E! and I'm fine. I even have another show on, aahhhh..."

Joel McHale plays Jeff Winger on "Community," a lawyer who has his degree revoked. He joins a study group compose of a band of misfits and end up learning more about life and themselves.

The "Community" cancellation should have been done a while ago, as Mashable commented:

"Beloved by its cult following that was never quite big enough ... It's never had strong enough ratings to feel comfortable, leaving its stars to openly campaign on social media for viewers."

Though Netflix is being inundated with fans requesting the streaming service pick up the recently canceled "Community," a rep for the company disclosed Sunday that a pickup is not a possibility.

NBC said that it may be dropping the show from the lineup but it will be revived in another platform, although the network isn't clear on what.

The "Community" cancellation prompted a social media campaign with the hashtag #SixSeasonsAndaMovie" and also for Netflix to pick up a show, to no avail. Fans also created a "Community" dedicated forum on /r/community and urged fans to flood the Netflix with requests, said Variety.

"Giving "Community" fans hope was the fact that Netflix has picked up a cult favorite before," Variety noted, citing the case of "Arrested Development," which was cancelled by Fox but picked up by the streaming service.
