Indeed, there is more to people than what meets the eye. Pamela Anderson is more than just a pretty face and a sexy body. During the launch of the Pamela Anderson Foundation, she revealed that she has been a victim of sexual abuse and assault for several instances.

In her speech, she remarked, ""I did not have an easy childhood. Despite loving parents, I was molested from age 6-10 by my female babysitter," she said. "I went to a friend's boyfriend's house while she was busy. The boyfriend's older brother decided he would teach me backgammon, which led into a back massage, which led into rape - my first heterosexual experience. He was 25 years old - I was 12."

Yet, that was still the start of her suffering.

When she was in grade 9, she had her first boyfriend who raped her with six of his friends. Her traumatic experiences made it difficult for her to trust people. "Needless to say I had a hard time trusting humans - I just wanted off this earth," she disclosed.

Her fascination with animals kept her sane. Later on, this fascination grew to be a full-pledged commitment to fight for the welfare of the animals by supporting animal rights groups. The Pamela Anderson Foundation, an animal advocacy group. It was launched last Friday.

Through her post in Twitter, she explained why she decided to come out and speak about her traumatic past. "I want people to know they can overcome and prosper with love," was her tweet last Sunday.
