It's a clean slate following the Selena Gomez rehab; the celebrity is turning over a new leaf, in the aftermath of a controversial year with Justin Bieber.

The singer updated her Instagram account with a photo at the beach, in a yellow bikini. At 21 years old and just recovered at rehab, Gomez is optimistic.

Her Instagram pic came with caption: "Taking my power back. Can't wait to show you where I've been. I love y'all. Ps, I still obsess over pickles." Selena Gomez rehab was voluntary, and she checked in to be treated for marijuana, alcohol, and drug (Ambien) dependence.

Her friend Demi Lovato was also rehabilitated for similar reasons. Gomez checked into The Meadows in Arizone last April, completed a two-week (DAWN) treatment program. The center's programs are designed for the young adult crowd of 18-26, treating substance abuse, maintaining recovery, dealing with trauma and emotional, mental health problems.

Gomez confirms it was Justin Bieber, his friends, and their partying habits as the causes of her problems. The singer was even seen hanging out with Bieber days before she signed up for rehab.

The clamor for Selena Gomez rehab came from her supporters, who expressed disappointment with reports she's constantly out joyriding with Bieber and his friends.

Gomez has since taken on a positive outlook on life, as evidenced by her attendance at a Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer event in April. She's also under new management, coming out of her parents' wing last month and hiring Bradford Cobb, Katy Perry's manager (toofab.com).

Gomez' rocky relationship with Justin Bieber was controversial at best. Bieber previously posted a photo taken at Central Park, captioned with a cryptic message addressed to his "future wife." Gomez was also at heated odds with Kendall and Kylie Jenner regarding text messages sent to his boyfriend. Selena Gomez rehab reportedly continues with follow-up visits.
