Alcon Entertainment, the producers of the "Point Break" remake, recently announced that they will start shooting on June 26. The latest update was revealed by Oscar-nominated producer Andrew Kosove and his producing partner Broderick Johnson. The duo is known for their work on The Blind Side, which starred Sandra Bullock.
According to reports, the reboot of the 1991 surfing film will go on location shoot in four continents, including South America, North America, Asia, and Europe. Unlike the original "Point Break" film which was mostly shot in Cannon Beach, Oregon.
More exciting news was revealed by Alcon and that hiring some of the world's greatest extreme sports athletes to do the stunts. In a previous interview with Gerard Butler, who was supposed to star as Bodhi, he talked about how difficult the stunts were. He said, "They are going to use the best of the best."
That is definitely true because Alcon got extreme sports superstars to show off their tricks on the big screen. It is confirmed that surfers Brian Keaulana (Baywatch Hawaii), Makua Rothman, Ahan Tson-dru and Bill Kemper will be appearing in "Point Break" remake.
Other renowned athletes include free climber Chris Sharma, snowboarders Ralph Backstrom, Lucas De Bari, Mitch Toelderer, Xavier De La Rue, and Mike Basich; motorcyclists Oakley Lehman and Riley Harper; and wingsuit stunt pilots Jon Devore, Jeb Corliss, Noah Bahson, Julian Boulle, and Michael Swanson.
These extreme sports athletes will film in places like Mexico, Germany, Italy, Austria, India, Venezuela, and French Polynesia. If the spotlight is on them, will the lead stars of the "Point Break" remake get some attention from the audience?
After Gerard Butler announced that he has to drop out of the reboot, the producers are left with only Luke Bracey headlining the new "Point Break". The Aussie actor is best known for his role as Cobra Commander in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation". He is now all set to star as Johnny Utah, a character which was made famous by Keanu Reeves.
He isn't much of a big name in Hollywood that's why having Gerard Butler in the cast could boost the popularity of the movie. However, the Scottish actor has to bid farewell, but people hoped that he will be replaced by a famous actor as well.
The producers recently announced that the new Bodhi will be Edgar Ramirez, who won a Cesar Awards for "Carlos". Do you think that Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez can keep up with the action that the extreme sports superstars show off in "Point Break" remake?
