Iphone 6 Case Mold: Leaked Photo Shows Alleged Dimensions Of iPhone 6, Consistent With Rumors

iPhone 6 case mold leak in a number of reports last week have led to rumors about the next generation iPhone from Apple. A new photo leak has caused a flurry of commotion about Apple's next gen smartphone, the iPhone 6.

The leaked image "shows off a metal slab that has been molded and shaped to the alleged dimensions of the iPhone 6,"reports Ubergizmo.

The best guess among analysts is that the mold is being used by case makers for manufacturing cases and accessories for the iPhone 6.

Despite a huge gamble on the design of the iPhone 6, case manufacturers tend to make cases early on to get ahead of the system, to get an edge on the competition. There's a 50-50 chance of getting the anticipated design right.

However, experts say that the current image leak of the mold is consistent with the highly anticipated iPhone 6 design. What we know so far about the iPhone 6 is the following, according to news reports: " This includes the rounded edges of the phone, which resembles the iPad Air and iPad mini's design, also the volume buttons appear to be of the pill-shaped variety, as opposed to being circular like the iPhone 5s. Once again it seems that the flash unit on this mold seems to suggest a single flash, versus the iPhone 5s' "True Tone" flash.

The size of the iPhone 6 is difficult to speculate since rumors suggest there will a display of 4.7-inches, and a second model with a 5.5-inch display. Mold manufacturers will have to take the size of the iPhone with some uncertainty.

The leaked pictures of the mold point to a thinner iPhone 6 than the iPhone 5S. the round edges of the iPhone 6 frame would match nicely with the leaked mold.

"In any case, Apple is expected to launch the new iPhone during Fall 2014 and should unveil two different models. Attempting to compete more directly with Samsung, the two new iPhone models are rumored to be offered in a 4.7-inch model, similar to the Nexus 5, and a 5.5-inch model, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note," writes Mike Flacy of Digital Trends.
