Looks like the Transformer X Evangelion trend got interesting as Japanese toy company Takara Tomy unveiled the Evangelion Unit 1 inspired Optimus Prime to the public and rumors of anime or live-action adaptation of the toyline has surfaced the internet.
It was last month that Takara Tomy announced the new toyline for their Transformer X Evangelion project. The toyline combines the Transformers universe and the anime mecha hit Neon Genesis Evangelion as indicated in the official story of the toyline.
Anime News Network reported that the EVA -01 inspired Optimus Prime toy has been revealed complete with his classic trailer and weapons with minor changes like adding the NERV logo while in he is in robot mode. The figure will be released in November but pre-orders are open on June 12 for only 25,000 yen ($250).
Meanwhile, rumors have spread that the Transformers X Evangelion toyline will have its own anime or live-action adaptation. A Transformers fan page called Transformers News Center hinted on the possible project, but whether it is an anime or live-action movie is yet to be confirmed. The website also reported yesterday that Michael Bay will be making an Evangelion live-action movie and since Michael Bay has been successful in the Transformers franchise, there is no telling whether this information is real or not.
Could Michael Bay be planning something for the project and could this happen in the near future? Sound off your comments right now!
