Wreck-It Ralph 2 Mario and Sonic appearance? Yes it possible and it may happen as the director admitted he wants to see the iconic video game characters in the movie!
Silverman and Reilly assured Moviehole that Wreck-It Ralph 2 is on the way, with the latter pointing to the first computer-animated toon's record opening weekend (it squeaked past Tangled, to become Disney Animation Studio's best premiere). Reilly also playfully knocked-on-wood with a crack about how "They wouldn't make [all that] merchandise, if [Disney] didn't have plans for other [Wreck-it Ralph] stories."
Moore added:
"At dinner last night we were already talking about [a 'Wreck-It Ralph' sequel]. So we're talking 'what could do they do? What kind of things could happen? Who could be in it?'"
Well, Moore already has plans to include one icon of the video game industry in the next movie: Mario.
And not only that....
X:Men First Class and Captain America: The Winter Soldier music composer Henry Jackman told Collider that he had heard of a Wreck-It Ralph sequel, but was quiet on details. "I can't tell you more, not because I'm being coy, but I believe that it is officially on the cards. I don't know any more other than a story is indeed being written."
It should be noted that Wreck-It Ralph director Rich Moore told Hypable in February 2013 that he and the voice of Ralph, John C. Reilly, pondered a possible plot involving alternate versions of the characters from the first film. "Are there other Ralphs that are more contemporary?" Moore pondered. "Is there another version of the game that was made for mobile? Are there those kind of Super Smash Bros types games where all the characters are gathered in a fighting game? What would that be like for Ralph to come face to face with those different iterations of himself?"
Then Joystiq followed that up by saying:
"Mayhaps Ralph could enlist the help of Sonic? He's got some experience dealing with past and present selves meeting up."
