Cleveland Cavaliers news reveals the team's hesitation about giving star point guard Kyrie Irving a max contract. The "Cavs" is also reported to be "eyeing" Kevin Love as well as opening the possibility of a LeBron James comeback.
In April, Cleveland Cavaliers news circulated that the team is about to offer their star point guard and two-time NBA All-Star an $80 million five-year contract. Irving himself says he was aware of the possible deal.
"It's a big deal for me if they do offer me that," Irving said. "It will be exciting. I'll make the best decision for me and my family. That's what it will boil down to."
The "Cavs", however, seems to have changed their tune about the matter, and have actually been vocal about their reluctance to offer their 2011 first overall draft pick a maximum contract extension.
They claim that the reason is mainly due to Irving and his family's continuous vocal declaration of wanting to leave the team.
Another reason was that Kyrie Irving has reportedly gained a reputation of being a "locker room problem".
A team insider spoke to the New York Daily News about how the team made a mistake with Kyrie Irving.
"He was just handed too much, too soon," the insider said. "You've got to make these young guys earn it, and that's where this team did a bad job with him."
The Cleveland Cavaliers ended their 2013-2014 Regular Season sun with a record of 37 wins and 45 losses, finishing 10th overall on the Eastern Conference standings.
The team will once again be having the luxury of acquiring the No. 1 overall pick for the upcoming 2014 NBA Draft in a month's time, and are also reportedly pursuing to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves power forward and three-time NBA All-Star Kevin Love.
Further Cleveland Cavaliers news reveals that the "Cavs" are open to possibly re-signing former superstar franchise player LeBron James, since the two-time NBA Champion's contract with the Miami Heat will be expiring during the upcoming off-season.
In an article written by Bill Livingston of Cleveland.com's The Plain Dealer, the acquistion of Kevin Love could be the lure to getting "King James" back to Cleveland.
"Getting Love would also clearly be a flirtatious wink at LeBron James, decider, defector and demon of Cleveland's playoff dreams. James' talents could be on the move again after this season, when the Collusion All-Stars might also win a third straight NBA championship," an excerpt of the article reads.
