Oh, the AKB48 Idols are indeed talented and lovely, all of their shows keep a crazy number of audiences flowing! However, as they proceed to their recently concluded handshake event in Takizawa, Iwate Prefecture last May 25, the lovely AKB48 Idols were attacked by a crazy fan and ended up not only hurting the members Anna Iriyama and Rina Kawaei but also one male staff member! As the ABK48 Idols are attacked, the three mentioned victims received injuries in the process!
According to the report from Yahoo! Japan, the suspect was carrying a saw and started attacking the AKB48 Idols violently. Fortunately, the Iwate Prefectural Police were notified as the AKB48 Idols are being attacked and eventually arrested the suspect - who was later identified as Satoru Umeta, 24 years old. Umeta admitted to the crime of attacking AKB48 Idols Anna and Rina and the police later charged him of attempted murder.
The staff member and AKB48 Idols who are attacked are eventually transferred to the hospital and incurred hand wounds. They immediately undergo surgery which began at 9:00 pm and lasted three hours, which became successful afterwards. Anna Iriyama suffered a bone fracture in her right pinky finger, while Rina Kawaei endured a bone fracture in her right thumb. Both AKB48 Idols who are attacked endured lacerations (Anna had on her head while Rina had it with her right thumb as well) while the male staff member suffered cuts to his left hand.
Meanwhile, TV Asahi reported that the suspect, Satoru Umeta, is from Towada and lives with his mother and three older brothers. Since graduating from high school, Umeda had several part-time jobs but quit his most recent job last December 2013. Since then, he has been an unemployed with shut-in tendencies, resulting him to do the attack on AKB48 Idols.
Both Rina and Anna are reported to be safe now. However, for their next event the security should be tightened as most members of Team A, B, and K are still underaged girls and require the utmost protection and care! It turns out, the attendees' bags are not checked as they entered the event venue!
