Please do not fret, young fans from Thailand. Even the country-pop superstar is sad too.
Following the military coup and seriously ongoing political unrest, Taylor Swift's Thailand concert has been canceled as reported by Rolling Stone magazine. Taylor Swift's Thailand concert is supposed to be her first show in the said Asian country.
As the young singer and actress reaches to her Asian fans through Twitter, Taylor Swift writes about the Thailand concert below:
BEC-Tero Entertainment, the promoter of Taylor Swift's Thailand concert issued a statement about the sudden cancellation of Taylor Swift's Thailand concert which was originally scheduled on June 9. The show was canceled due to the "recent events happening in their country" and they also quoted Taylor's sentiments about the issue.
Currently, Thailand's military forces have taken over the government affairs of the nation following months of political instability and street mass protests as the public demands the ouster of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and the ruling populist Pheu Thai party. As reported by the local media, Shinawatra and everyone in the Thailand government was operating under the influence of the Prime Minister's brother, businessman Thaksin Shinawatra, who also became a Prime Minister in 2001 and was overthrown in 2006.
Currently, Taylor Swift will continue visiting other Asian countries in June such as Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore for her Red Tour. Her next stop will be in Shanghai, China on Friday, May 30.
