LG G3 Specs And Release Date: With competition from Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8) and Sony Xperia Z2 and possibly an iPhone 6 in the near future the LG G3 needed to deliver and you can bet it is 'overspec-ced.' An announcement of the G3 on Tuesday revealed the new device specs, which includes a a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a quad-core 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera with an optical image stabilizer and laser autofocus, 2.1-megapixel camera, microSD support, a replaceable 3000mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat.

The announcement comes a bit late in comparison to HTC One and Samsung flagships, so LG will have to beef up its marketing strategy for the G3 in the U.S. to capture the attention of consumers.

An LG exec said that the marketing strategy for the G3 would involve creating an awareness about who how it can make the user's life simple, which means it will not be touting its highly overpowered specs.

A Stuff.tv report says the LG G3 may not be metal but 'it is still beautiful.' And it is pretty close to the real thing, even if you put the mighty HTC M80 next to it. The faux metal plastic, like the faux leather that Samsung has capitalized on, seems to have a finish that is far better than just mediocre.

The Verge said the LG G3 "sets the new benchmark for overpowered smartphones." Fancy features include a new laser autofocus system, the fastest of its kind on any smartphone, but the overall LG theme is to simplify vs. Samsung's bloated specs.

But the truth remains that LG will have tough time in the U.S because it will need to gain entry into the collective consciousness of the smartphone market in order for consumers to snap up LG G3s. So far LG has not created a name for itself like Samsung or Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).

The G3 will be sold by Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ), AT&T Mobility (NYSE: T), Sprint (NYSE: S) and T-Mobile US (NYSE:TMUS) and it will also be available at Best Buy. However, a clear release date for the U.S. was not mentioned other than a "later this summer." Additionally, a price for the LG G3 was not announced. Reports have noted that the G3 pricing will be about the same as that of other flagships like the S5, and M8 from HTC One. For more on the phone, click here.)

In addition, the G3 will roll out on Wednesday in South Korea and 170 other countries via regional carriers.
