Emma Watson's Brown University graduation is the actress's latest achievement, but the armed bodyguard who accompanied her throughout the ceremonies caught the media's attention.
The actress attended commencement ceremonies for the Ivy League University Sunday, May 25. She is still the Hermione character fans of the Harry Potter series know her for, and her bachelor's degree in English Literature confirms her inclinations towards the performing arts.
The commencement ceremony would've been staple fare for reporters if not for the presence of an armed bodyguard, always within arm's length from the actress. The bodyguard was even photographed in toga attire beside the actress; Emma Watson Brown University graduation was ensured safe and secure.
A University representative was unable to comment on the report, especially the reasons why Watson needed her own security detail for the ceremony. Providence, R.I. Police Chief Steven Pare does confirm the woman who accompanied the actress isn't part of their local enforcement team.
Published photographs show Watson walking and sitting with a woman during the event, wearing a cap and gown. Another photo shows the same woman with Watson, in plainclothes, with a holstered sidearm and a badge (ap.org).
