It's no surprise to see Brad Pitt punched in the face in his movies, but the actor welcomes protective custody in light of the recent mishap on the "Maleficent" blue carpet premier.
Pitt won't leave anything to chance, especially with the news of his engagement to Angelina Jolie. He's been granted an emergency protective order from Vitalii Sediuk, for the latter's alleged assault attempt during Maleficent's Hollywood premiere.
Protective orders are effective for a maximum of five days upon release, issued by police in circumstances of immediate threat to safety. LAPD granted the protection, but Pitt will have to seek a court restraining order if he wants an extension.
It was alleged that Brad Pitt punched in the face during the brief scuffle. An eyewitness claims Sediuk came into contact with Pitt after jumping the rope and into the blue carpet.
Police immediately responded and detained the assailant. It's yet to be confirmed if Pitt managed to fend off the attack by taking a page out of his character in "Fight Club," though.
Sediuk is in police custody on battery charges, facing a $20,000 bail. A representative from of the "Maleficent" camp commented: "This was an unfortunately and inappropriate incident that is being investigated by the LAPD."
This isn't the first time Brad Pitt punched or assaulted in real life, but other incidents involved stunts, setups, and pranks. Sediuk's motive for the offense is yet to be confirmed; he is known for pulling random stunts on celebrities, allegedly to gain media attention.
Pitt didn't seem fazed by the incident, and carried on the red carpet with Jolie, waving at the crowd and posing for photo ops, taking the scuffle lightly and laughing with his bodyguard in the aftermath. Pitt was accompanied by his youngest daughter Vivienne, who also co-stars with Jolie as the young Aurora in "Maleficent" (eonline.com).
