Football season is once again in high gear, and fans of the sport can kick off with EA's new release, FIFA 14 Ultimate Team.

The Fifa 14 Ultimate team update will come with World Cup Mode, and is expected to be released today, but was delayed. Console and platform availabilities are also tentative.

The patch is a free update available on all formats (PC, PS3, PS4, Sbox 360, Xbox One), with the World Cup Mode included. A special World Cup Kickoff Mode is exclusive to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Developers needed time to address issues on the update prior to release; EA will offer a progress update tomorrow to keep the fans informed (thexboxhub.com).

Gamers are somewhat disappointed the recent FIFA 14 Ultimate Team update only involves the Kickoff Mode (on the next-gen consoles), with a total of 32 teams in the National Brazil World Cup. Fans expected a World Cup Tournament or Career mode to be included in the game.

There's no reason to complain, though. The Fifa 14 Ultimate Team update is free for automatic download, with enough features to keep gamers satisfied.

Users can assemble their own group out of the 32 available teams. Unlocked cards reward players with official crests and kits. Players from all of the countries in FIFA are also featured, and the main arena for the FIFA finals will be accessible.

Gameplay upgrades for the FIFA 14 Ultimate Team are purchasable as point or coin packs. These also come as rewards for players who scale each World Cup level. Players added to teams cannot be traded, though.

Items obtained during gameplay are also exclusive and untradeable. The update boosts replay value for FIFA 14, especially with World Cup due in a matter of weeks.

EA confirms it'll have the issues resolved by tomorrow, with the World Cup Kickoff launched early in the day. More updates to FIFA 14 Ultimate Team will likely follow, as the frenzy builds up for the season (christiantoday.com).
