Leaked Footage Preempts Battlefield 5 Release Date; Visceral Exec Confirms It's Legit, Assures The Final Version Much Better Than The Tease

Preview of the Battlefield 5 releases date is somewhat preempted by leaked gameplay footage, but the executives at Electronic Arts say it's all fair game, it's all good.

The next installment to the franchise is dubbed Battlefield: Hardline, and will continue with the tradition of the series. Visceral Games, noted for work on the Dead Space series, will supervise the development.

Visceral Games executive Steve Papoutsis confirm the leaked gameplay footage is legitimate. He also says the video doesn't do justice to the game's final version, being six months old and relatively raw.

The Battlefield 5 release date is closer than people might think, with a public unveiling at this June's E3 event. Papoutsis comments on the leaked video in a Tweet: "So yeah, that happened. Not how we wanted to unveil Hardline, but all good. Didn't want to wait til E3 anyway, so let's talk about it."

"Video that's out there was for an internal meeting. It's 6 months old now and team has been cranking since then. See the real deal at E3." Apart from the game's official launch next month, Papoutsis refused to reveal more details concerning the game.

The leak is recently pulled off the official posts, but some managed to obtain duplicate copies, now circulated in forums and blogs.

The Battlefield 5 release date is only confirmed for Fall, and no particular month has been announced.

Preorders are now available. The game is tagged for mature audiences due to graphic, violent content. The game's teaser synopsis: "Battlefield Hardline is a first-person action game set against the backdrop of the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals."

Papoutsis downplays the footage as unpolished, but it actually reveals the title's potential, if it's confirmed the gameplay tease is actually six months old. The full reveal on June 9 should confirm gamers' expectations, including a definitive placeholder for the Battlefield 5 release date (gamerant.com).
