Mariah Carey's new song 'Meteorite' opened the World Music Awards, back after taking three years off.
Carey took the stage to kick off the awards show, to which she showed up four hours late. The 'Me. I Am Mariah ... The Elusive Chanteuse' singer wore a semi-sheer Roberto Cavalli dress and performed her new song, "Meteorite."
Mariah's Monaco launch party for her album, Me. I Am Mariah ... The Elusive Chanteuse, was held up for four hours, which caused her delay in arrival at the WMAs.
"We don't know why Mariah is late, she's just being Mariah," the ceremony's spokesperson told The Mirror.
Mariah was also presented with the Pop Icon Award. The WMAs announced on May 11 that Mariah would be receiving the award; she has sold over 200 million albums and holds the record for most number one hit singles in America.
"Meteorite" can be found on Carey's 14th studio album "Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse" which was released to stores on May 23rd.
Mariah Carey slummed it on the subway early Friday May 30 morning in a blue Versace dress. She looked red carpet-ready in a revealing floor-length gown and silver stiletto heels.
Proving she's not quite a pop star of the people, Carey took the early morning joyride on the 1 train after attending the Fresh Air Fund's Spring Gala at New York City's Chelsea Piers.
Carey was toasted by the Fresh Air Fund for her Camp Mariah in upstate New York which has now been running for 20 years. Carey, who arrived in a black Rolls Royce, arrived with "The Butler" director Lee Daniels, record producer Jermaine Dupri, and many others from DefJam Records including president Steve Bartels. Carey was toasted by emcee Al Roker, followed by a few graduates of her Camp Mariah.
Carey posted two photos of her rare ride on public transportation to her Instagram on Friday, captioning one image "Glimpses of our joyride on the 1 train #subwayincouture."
It remains unclear where her subway ride ended.
