Shinji Mikami of Resident Evil fame is collaborating with SEGA, ensuring the Alien Isolation release date stays pegged at October 7.

SEGA confirmed the news, adding the title is available on the staple platforms come release date: on Windows PC, on Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox 360, and on Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

The game is first-person perspective, and with Mikami's involvement, is expected to be a true survival horror offering. The title is a direct reference to Ridley Scott's Alien franchise of movies, attempts to recapture the experience of the first installment.

Players relive the 1979 movie classic, on a mission to eliminate a Xenomorph onboard a spacecraft voyaging on the edge of outer space. The game is a notable departure from previous Alien games, which involve Xenomorphs in different breeds; these games were usually beat-'em-ups or action-adventures (ign.com).

The Alien Isolation release date should confirm gamers' expectations on the newest installment to the franchise. Mikami's work on the Resident Evil series should carry through.

Developer Creative Assembly confirmed it is trying to maximize the next-generation consoles' capabilities, aiming for native 1080p resolution for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The Alien Isolation release date was announced May 29, with a playable demo, at EGX Rezzed 2014. Representative for Creative Assembly Alistair Hope confirms rumors of a new Alien game.

"We couldn't be happier to finally announce a date for Alien: Isolation. The reaction we have seen so far has been simply incredible, from the screams and shrieks to the cold sweats and racing hearts. It's the Alien game that we've always wanted to play and we can't wait to let everyone get their hands on it this fall."

Dan Whitehead's review of hands-on gameplay is promising. "It's not just the jump scares. It's the anticipation of them, the tingle of vulnerability, the frisson that comes from not knowing what's around the corner - not just the first time you turn it, but every time after that" (eurogamer.net).

The Alien Isolation release date is an anticipated Mikami offering, along with his new spinoff to the Resident Evil franchise.
