Jason Vorhees is back as a new Friday the 13th remake is in the works.

Paramount pictures is developing the movie after they have acquired the movie rights from Warner Bros. but sadly, the scheduled release date of the movie has been pushed back to 8 months.

According to reports from Screenrant, the release date for the Friday The 13th remake is scheduled on November 13, 2015. The reason for this is that Paramount picture's other horror movie "Scouts vs. Zombies" has taken the spot from the Slasher film franchise.

Screenrant added that Scouts vs. Zombies has been stuck in development since 2011 when Paramount bought the rights from Evans and Mochizuki after their screenplay ended up on the 2010 Black List of the best unproduced scripts. The story follows three boy scouts who defend their town from a zombie outbreak on the eve of their last camp out.

"Men in Black 3" director Etan Cohen was assigned to direct the film but ended up rewriting the script with Lona Williams (Shark Tale). As a result Paramount has hired Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones) to handle the movie. Scouts vs. Zombies will be in cinemas on March 13, 2015.

Meanwhile, there are no further details regarding the plot and the cast of the new Friday the 13th movie. The Slasher film franchise has been absent for almost 5 years and fans are looking forward to see Jason Vorhees on a killing spree in Camp Crystal Lake once again.

The first Friday the 13th was released in 1980 and spawned many sequels including a crossover movie with Freddy Krueger (Freddy vs. Jason). The first reboot of the franchise was made in 2009 and is directed by Marcus Nispel and it was reported last April that a television series of the movie which will explore Jason Vorhees's origin before he became the killing machine that we all love and fear.
