One of the most popular mecha animes of all-time, Neon Genesis Evangelion is probably going to have a live action adaptation and Michael Bay allegedly is putting his hat into the ring to be the director of the film and reportedly, Guillermo Del Toro isn't happy about it.
According to the Transformers News Center, Michael Bay was asked by journalists if he wants to direct any other franchises after his stint with Transformers and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Michael Bay then responded by saying "I don't know if you are familiar with 'Evangelion' but that's one movie that I want to direct".
When asked if Michael Bay is working on the Neon Genesis Evangelion live action movie right now, he just smiled at the journalist who asked him that question.
Comic Book News Hound then reported that Guillermo Del Toro reportedly responded to Michael Bay's desire of directing the Neon Genesis Evangelion live action movie by saying "Michael (Bay) should just let the Japanese handle the project".
It should be noted that while the reaction of the fans to Michael Bay wanting to direct the film has been negative for the most part, the thought of Guillermo Del Toro directing the Neon Genesis Evangelion live action movie has elicited a much more positive reaction from the fans of the franchise.
What do you think? Who should direct the Neon Genesis Evangelion live action movie? Should the Japanese handle the project or are you ok with Guillermo Del Toro or Michael Bay handling the movie? Sound off in the comments below!
