"22 Jump Street" actor Jonah Hill lashed out at paparazzi using a homophobic remark over the weekend.

During an interview with Howard Stern on Tuesday, Hill reportedly apologized for his homophobic comment.

The comedian called what he said "disgusting" and inexcusable while explaining that the paparazzi had been following him and saying hurtful things about his loved ones, according to Gossip Cop.

"I played into what he wanted and lost my cool, and in that moment, I said a disgusting word that does not at all reflect how I feel about any group of people," stated Hill.

He added, "I'm not at all defending my choice of words, but I am happy to be the poster boy for thinking about what you say."

Jonah Hill reportedly explained that he's "been a gay rights activist" and is about to attend his friend's same-sex wedding as well.

At the time of the incident, Jonah Hill was out in the Larchmont area of L.A. with a couple friends, when a photographer commented on his floral print shorts, saying, "I like the shorts though, bro. They are pretty sexy."

After the photographer followed Hill for some time, Hill yelled "Suck my d***, you f*****!," according to TMZ.

"All around the world, LGBT young people go to bed at night and stare at the ceiling, sleeplessly wondering what awaits them the next day at school or at church or even in their own home. Hateful words like the one Jonah used are more harmful than he can ever know, especially to kids who hear nothing but negativity about being LGBT. We're glad to see that Jonah is willing to turn this into a teachable moment and we hope others will learn from his mistake," a rep for the Human Rights Campaign told the gossip website.

Along with his apology regarding the homophobic remark, Hill stated, "It would break my heart to think that anyone would think that I would be against anyone for their sexuality."
