Two 12-year-old girls attempted to murder their classmate to pay homage to the fictional character, Slender Man.

The girls, Morgan E. Geyser and Anissa E. Weier, were charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court as adults with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, each facing up to 65 years in prison, according to the Journal Sentinel.

Geyser and Weier, who stabbed their victim, another 12-year-old from Waukesha, 19 times, are being held on $500,000 bail each.

Weier reportedly suggested the three girls go for a walk in a wooded area near Rivera Drive and Big Bend Road where they began playing hide and seek.

After reportedly handing the knife back and forth between each other several times, Geyser tackled the victim and started stabbing her.

Weier stated that when Geyser got off the victim, the victim screamed, "I hate you. I trusted you."

Weier explained that the victim attempted to walk towards the street, but was stumbling as she couldn't breathe, see or walk. Weier reportedly told the victim to lie down and remain quiet, so attention wouldn't be drawn to her.

A bicyclist found the victim lying on the sidewalk and covered in blood, with injuries to her arms, legs and torso on Saturday. The victim had managed to crawl out of her woods.

She was rushed to a hospital, where she was in stable condition Monday evening, but fighting for her life.

A Waukesha County sheriff's deputy found Geyser and Weier hours after the victim was found. The two girls were walking near I-94 in Waukesa.

A knife with a five-inch blade was found in Weier's backpack as well.

The suspects reportedly explained that Slender Man is the "leader" of Creepypasta, and in the hierarchy of that world, one must kill to show dedication.

The two believed that Slender Man lived in a mansion in the Nicolet National Forest in northern Wisconsin and reportedly had plans to go to him after proving themselves worthy of meeting him by killing their friend.

Although Geyser apologized, she told a detective, "It was weird that I didn't feel remorse."

Geyser's family members reportedly broke into tears several times during her appearance in court on Monday.

Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel reportedly had to bring the case in adult court because of the level of charges against the girls. Although the girls' attorneys are expected to attempt to "reverse waive" the girls into juvenile court, Schimel said he would resist, according to the publication.

"It's a very shocking incident. There's no two ways about it," stated Schimel.
