"Fifty Shades of Grey" cast Jamie Dornan is more interested in the method acting that the likes of Al Pacino and Robert de Niro employed in their early years, as he admitted being very crappy at auditions. Meanwhile, he stripped down to his undies to show off his buff body for a cover story by Interview magazine.
When asked for his influences by Interview magazine, "Fifty Shades of Grey" cast Jamie Dornan cited the two Oscar winners, particularly their work with "The Godfather" series.
"I don't want to be showy. I'm not interested in seeing that, and I don't want to do it," he said. "I've played a lot of broken people. Maybe the silences are about the different kinds of vulnerability in all of them."
He also said that there's no method to his auditions even if he's been doing it for years.
"I never got any better at it. I'm crap at auditions. I know there are people who can walk into those rooms and make those lines sing on the page and get the job immediately. I wasn't one of them," he told the magazine.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" cast Jamie Dornan got his first break playing the role of Axel von Fersen in Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette (2006). But he revealed that he went a while without work after the film came out.
The 32-year-old actor also stripped down to his underwear in a bathtub and although it wasn't the first time he was semi-naked for camera, as HuffingtonPost noted that he was featured in different Calvin Klein underwear ads, the Interview photoshoot is where he revealed his insecurity about his own physique.
"I don't like my physique. Who does? I was a skinny guy growing up, and I still feel like that same skinny kid," he said.
