A new development for Gambit the movie has been revealed as Channing Tatum talks about the origin story and possible costume for X-men fan favorite.

Screenrant conducted an interview with Channing Tatum along with his 22 Jump Street co-star Jonah Hill as he express his desire for the role of Gambit in the movie.

"I would do anything to be in those movies. I mean, I love the Marvel world and what they've created as a real brand and they've sort of changed the face of the industry. I would be in anything they put up, especially Gambit."

Tatum further adds his admiration to "John Carter" star Taylor Kitsch who first took on the role of Remy LeBeau in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He later explains what kind of costume Gambit will have in the movie.

'He's kind of really known for having this headpiece that you gotta figure out."

Jonah Hill mentions that the characters leather jacket will be present in the movie as Tatum warns comic book fans not to expect the Ragin' Cajun in full costume when introduce in the spin off because he felt that it wouldn't make any sense.

"You kind of have to slowly massage it into a world you believe and that is honest to what the actual property and what the history of the character was... People know and love this character so you have to be honest to what it was in the comics, and you also have to give them something they believe and that they're not expecting. And so, it's a really delicate line to walk on and we're just going to take our time and figure it out."

Meanwhile, Tatum mentioned before that he wanted to do the Gambit spin off before joining the X-Men movie franchise.

MTV News reports on the development of Tatum's character in the franchise.

"Creatively, we're starting to chug forward. Obviously there's nothing written. There are only conversations and dreams really, right now. The machine of the Marvel world is so ginormous that it's literally like climbing a mountain, getting one of these movies made, and all of the pieces that go along with it, but I've been pretty vocal about wanting to be the part of Gambit for a very long time. It's a weird, pinching-myself moment that we're even having the conversation."

X-Men producers Lauren Donner and Simon Kinberg were happy to hear Tatum's enthusiasm of playing the role of Gambit in the X-Men films even though nothing has been official as of late.

"We've talked about it being a standalone, first, and actually trying to change the 'hero, superhero movie' just a little because Gambit is not really your stereotypical "hero" hero. He's a thief. He walks on the gray. I'm hoping we can change it a little bit, and then ultimately feather into the other ones."
