This week has been kind to the development of the "Ant-Man" movie, as news of producers finally finding a director made their rounds on the internet.
Weeks after Edgar Wright's so called resignation from being the movie's director, Marvel finally found its director in Peyton Reed.
Reed is known for his work in various Hollywood movies including "Bring It On", "Yes Man" and "Down With Love."
Marvel has officially confirmed the news on its website and has also released an official synopsis for the movie.
The synopsis states:
"Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world"
While the statement released in Marvel's website mentioned the names of Reed as director, and Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas as some of the movie's notable actors, it failed to mention some important names like Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish who were originally the movie's screenwriters. Eric Pearson who wrote the draft that supposedly caused the rift between Marvel and former director Edgar Wright was also not mentioned.
According to Slashfilm.com, the non-mention of their names might have something to do with the latest draft not being good at all.
"And so having Adam McKay on hand to do some revisions reads as a couple things: a way to push back the word on troublesome draft, and a consolation for star Paul Rudd, who still gets the benefit of some input from a trusted filmmaker. But overall, having McKay as a writer could push the script towards a familiar comic sensibility, which could be a thing Marvel and Disney will love."
"Ant-Man" will hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
