With the announcement of the "Beauty and the Beast" movie, people have started to speculate who will play Belle in the movie.
Two names have often come up in reference to it- "Twilight's" Kristen Stewart and "Harry Potter's" Emma Watson.
According to Hollywood Life, the 23-year-old Stewart is considered by "Beauty and the Beast" director Bill Candon to play the leading role.
A source told the website that:
"The process and the script for the movie are still in the beginning stages but as it fleshes out, Bill Condon has definitely thought of Kristen Stewart as a possible Belle."
But, Stewart's age might pose a problem for her. According to the source, time is of the essence.
"By the time they make the film, it might be 2015 or 2016 and they think she'll be busy and they might go after somebody younger. Disney's thoughts are, the big name for the film should be devoted to the Beast so Kristen has a 50/50 chance to be Belle."
Stewart has starred in box office young adult fantasies such as "Twilight" and "Snow White and the Huntsman." And while the actress has been often criticized because of her blank expressions, she surely has a hold on the young adult market.
Emma Watson is also reportedly being considered to play the lead actress for the "Beauty and the Beast" movie. However, it will be a different "Beauty and the Beast" movie as it will be directed by Guillermo Del Toro.
"Harry Potter's" Watson has been cast as Belle back in 2012. However, due to the number of film projects on Watson's and Del Toro's plate, the production for the "Beauty and the Beast" movie has been moved to 2014.
Since Del Toro's version of the movie has been delayed a couple of times, Disney just went ahead in doing its own version.
Disney has just previously released "Maleficent," its own live movie adaptation of the well-loved fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty" that centered on the story's villain Maleficent.
