Bourne 5 may see the return of Matt Damon's character Jason Bourne in the franchise.
Before Jeremy Renner came along, it was Matt Damon was the leading star of the first three Bourne movies; Identity, Supremacy and Ultimatum. Matt Damon admitted last week that he was open to return as Jason Bourne in Bourne 5 and he named one condition to convince him to comeback in the film franchise.
"I've always been open to it if Paul Greengrass is the director, we've just never been able to come up with a story."
Damon also commented on Jeremy Renner's performance in The Bourne Legacy.
"[The Bourne Ultimatum] felt like such a good way to end it last time. Having said that, I love that character. I'd love to see what happened to him."
According to reports by THR, Universal Pictures hired Andrew Baldwin to pen the screenplay for Bourne 5. Andrew Baldwin is also working on "Logan's Run" remake and has been credited to have wrote the original spec "Batille Day" and "The West is Dead" so it's curious to see what kind of chemistry will these two have in handling Bourne 5.
The official release date of the film is on August 2015 and there are no details on the story yet. We will get to see the return of Jeremy Renner's character, the chemically enhanced super spy, Aaron Cross though. If Matt Damon decides to show up in Bourne 5, will the audience see a confrontation between these two? Will they fight as enemies or allies to a common threat?
Although Universal stated before that the new Bourne movies will focus on Aaron Cross, there are still a lot of possibilities that could happen and playing around with it can make a huge impact for the Bourne movies.
It's not yet certain if we will see Matt Damon again as Jason Bourne but it could happen should his conditions are met.
