Tim Burton and 20th Century Fox open the audition in the US to find someone who fits to play the leading role in the movie adaptation of Ransom Riggs' New York Times best-selling novel "Miss Peregrine's Home of Peculiar Children".

The release date is already set in July 2015 and the new title of the movie has already been announced. The reason for dropping off the "Children" in the original title and use "Peculiars" to replace the plural is to not mislead people who are not familiar with the book. This will tell them that the film is not for children. However, the said title is not final yet.

Jacob Portman, the main character in the story, is a 16-year-old boy who goes to Wales to uncover the truth of the past of his grandfather. He discovers the ruins of Miss Peregrine's Home of Peculiar Children when he arrives at the remote island off the Wales coast. As he explores the place, he finds out that the people who once lived there are not only peculiar but may have been dangerous.

The book was originally intended for a picture book, but was instead narrated the story into words as advised by an editor at the book publisher, Quirk Books. The vintage photographs that Riggs collected were his key to telling the story of a boy who used the photos as clues to the truth behind the abandoned orphanage in the island.

Burton is known for his gothic, dark, fantasy, and quirky horror films and perhaps will bring out the "peculiar" story at its finest in the film adaptation. It is also possible that he will add much creepier atmosphere to the movie. Some of his films that made it big are "Edward Scissorhands", "Sleepy Hollow", "The Night before Christmas", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Planet of the Apes", "Alice in Wonderland", and "Batman Returns".

The script will be written by Jane Goldman, who penned "X-Men: First Class", and Burton.
