Fans of the "Iron Man" franchise are starting to speculate on the "Iron Man 4" release date.

Even though "Iron Man 3" just hit the big screen last year, fans can't wait to see what will happen to Tony Stark in the next movie.

According to new reports, "Iron Man 4" will have a 2017 release date. Although fans are eager to see the new movie soon after "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron," that won't seem to be a possibility as Marvel has other movies lined up.

Another important factor to consider is the fact that Robert Downey Jr. might be retiring his Iron Suit. He is said to be replaced by a new Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4."

Rumors that are stirring up suggest that the reason for Downey Jr.'s replacement is caused by his age. It seems that the actor's age has been a crucial deciding factor for both Marvel and Downey Jr. But it should definitely a feat for the actor since he has been playing the character for more than 5 years already.

If rumors prove to be true, Colin Farrell might be the next Iron Man. Farrell has been considered as to be the frontrunner, but other actors have also been considered. Matt Damon, Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, Jamie Norton, Robert Pattinson are said to have made it to the list. But, Farrell has become the preferred choice due to his similarity with Robert Downey Jr.

However fans can still expect Downey Jr.'s participation in "Iron Man 4." The actor is said to be the next movie's producer along with his wife Susan. "Iron Man 4" release date has not yet been confirmed, but it is suggested the movie will involve a 1980's rehab facility in Venice Beach.
