Following a 111-92 rout of the Miami Heat in Game 3, the San Antonio Spurs were still fiery hot to start Game 5 after a 13-2 run. From then on, the Spurs never looked back.
Kawhi Leonard still showed some sparks of brilliance from his career 29-point night in Game 3 and tallied 20 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, leading the way for San Antonio in the second straight game after lackluster performances in Games 1 and 2.
Meanwhile, LeBron James was his usual dominant self with his 28-point production, which came with 8 rebounds and just 2 assists. Unfortunately, his efforts were not enough to face offensive onslaught that is San Antonio. In addition, no other Miami player scored in double figures until the final quarter.
During last night's game, the Spurs were a blur when it comes to passing the ball, collecting 25 assists as a team while the Heat gets a measly 13.
Boris Diaw deserves credit for his playmaking skills from the post, which resulted in almost a triple double for the 32-year-old NBA veteran, (8 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists).
Tony Parker also contributed on the offensive end for the Spurs, who made 19 points on 8-15 from the field. Danny Green and Tim Duncan chipped in 14 and 10 points respectively.
At half time, San Antonio was in complete control of the game with its 55-33 lead over Miami. James exploded for 20 points in the second half for his team, but it was total team effort on the part of San Antonio which spelled the difference.
Game 5 is on Sunday night and the Spurs is on the verge of their fifth NBA title.
