Floyd Mayweather news reveals the top pound-for-pound boxer in the world has been honored as Forbes' highest-paid athlete in 2014 for the second straight year as he made $105 million for his fights against Canelo Alvarez and Marcos Maidana.

"Money", as he is aptly nicknamed, has been living up to his end of the bargain since signing a lucrative $200 million deal with television network Showtime for six fights.

For his fight against Canelo Alvarez in September 2013, Floyd Mayweather amassed a record-setting $150 million in pay-per-view gross and $20 million from the live gate, garnering a total of $200 million in total revenue. His most recent fight against Marcos Maidana gave him a guaranteed $41.5 million, with his pay-per-view buys expected to land at 900,000 to 1,000,000. He was able to take home a purse amounting to $32 million.

His fight against Oscar De La Hoya spearheaded Floyd Mayweather's lucrative ventures as a prized fighter in 2007, making it the most-watched fight in boxing history.

In a report by Forbes.com, "Money" has earned an estimated total of $400 million since he turned professional in 1996.

But for his part, Floyd Mayweather has maintained his old mantra of "Hardwork, Dedication", and credits this approach as the main catalyst for his financial success in boxing.

"I'm humbled and extremely fortunate to be recognized by Forbes as the highest-paid athlete once again," Mayweather said in a statement reported by The New York Daily news. "I'm doing something that no other athlete is doing, promoting myself and seeing my hard work pay off in the form of record-breaking numbers."

"It's all about hard work and dedication which is so important and a key part of my financial success," he said of the Floyd Mayweather news.

Behind Floyd Mayweather in Forbes' List are Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronald who earned a total of $80 million, followed by Miami Heat icon LeBron James, who earned a total of $72.3 million.
