Widely acknowledged as Group H's favourite, Belgium's team has high hopes for their first game for the 2014 Brazil World Cup. But the injuries beg to differ.

The recovery of Romelu Lukaku, ex-Chelsea striker and Everton top scorer this previous season, from his ankle problems caused much of Coach Marc Wilmots' delight. Lukaku is now hailed as Belgium's hit man. But ex-Blues' winger Kevin De Bruyne and Lille striker Divock Origi are still curing their ankle damages. There is also little possibility of the presence of Christian Benteke during the tournament, because of an Achilles tendon injury.

On the other hand, Algeria's playing history gets more spectacular each year. They are hoping to outlive their performance at the 1982 World Cup team, where they proved themselves as North Africa's best team when they won over West Germany, ex-European superstars.

"We will be playing against a very good Belgian team that remains for me the favourite, but in football everything else is possible," said Algerian coach Vahid Halihodzic. "We have worked hard for an upset here in Brazil. We have a lot of respect for the Belgians, but we have assets to exploit."

Perhaps he is talking about Sofiane Feghouli, their latest star player, who could be Belgium's biggest worry in the game.

However, most fans believe that Belgium's power and comeback will take on the Algerians with minimum effort.
