Though Australia lost in their opening game for the World Cup against Chile, they still managed to put on a great show, acquired nodding heads of approval, with reviews as potential winners. Tim Cahill, the lone goal in their last match, ultimately, could be the greatest obstacle Holland have to face.
On the other hand, the Dutch team definitely surpassed their wildest dreams in their opening campaign for the World Cup. A 5-1 against a team like Spain? They quickly became the new favourites everyone's betting on.
Australian defender Matthew Spiranovic said, "They're a world-class opponent. They showed their quality last game. Beating the reigning champions 5-1 - I think that says it all. It's a huge challenge that's ahead for us but one I'm definitely looking forward to. We're definitely going out there to win the game (though)."
However, the two teams already met three times before Brazil 2014. Two out of three times, it had ended in a draw. But in 2008, Australians Harry Kewell and Josh Kennedy goaled for the team, making it a 2-1 win.
The players to watch out for the Netherlands are Louis van Gaal, Arjen Robben, Robbie van Persie, and Daley Blind. Their avenged victory against Spain is just too resounding for Australia to just shrug off.
Though the Netherlands are currently receiving much praise and attention, the Australian team will not let them get away with another win without a fight.
